The one vendor we hired that failed to fulfill their duties was Pigman's Bar-B-Que. We offered Pigman's Bar-B-Que an alternative date that week to deliver the food because it was a destination wedding, but they weren't able to accommodate our request. As a result, my father-in-law went to the grocery store to buy food and cooked for everyone on his daughter's wedding day. Naturally, at this point, we asked to be fully refunded since Pigman's Bar-B-Que did not provide us with anything and we paid them a lot of money. Even discussing new arrangements with Pigman's Bar-B-Que was a challenge as they provided little to no communication, while the other vendors were in constant communication with us. The catering coordinator, Janet Woodard, initially only offered to reschedule the catering for another date no later than one year from the original wedding date (October 9, 2016). We explained to her numerous times that we weren't having another event. It wasn't until after we kept persisting that we were not able to reschedule after that week that she offered to refund half of the total payment for a service that her employer failed to provide. We think it is an unacceptable business practice for Pigman's Bar-B-Que to retain possession of a payment for goods and a service after they consciously decided not to provide the goods and service for which they are contractually obligated.

I reached out to Janet for an explanation, who said she had to ask her boss to consider the full refund. After Janet told me she would call me back (she never did), I tried to reason with one of the owners of Pigman's Bar-B-Que over the phone. Not surprisingly, the co-owner, Richard Bruce, was adamant about holding onto money for which he did nothing to earn. He also told me he would discuss the issue with his business partner and call me back, but he never did (notice a theme here? Again, bad communication from beginning to end). To date, Pigman's Bar-B-Que has only refunded half of what we paid them. Compare this to the hair and makeup personnel we hired who we were not able to reschedule their services, but remained in constant contact with my wife the week of our wedding and happily refunded the money to everyone in the party (and even offered us a free massage on our next visit).

Food was, for the most part, delicious! Got the pork BBQ sandwich with the beans and Cole slaw, as well as sweet potato fries. Pork BBQ was excellent, great taste and very tender! The sauces are delicious, but I was partial toward the Cock Sauce...a little sweeter of the BBQ sauces. Beans were pretty normal so nothing special or bad there, Cole slaw was actually kind of bland, and the sweet potato fries were scrumptious! Oh, don't forget the hush puppies, as they were different looking than I've seen, but tasted better than I've had! Not your typical hush puppy ball. Sweet tea was good too. Service was swift and friendly, pretty light atmosphere which felt like a BBQ place should. Prices were a little more than I expected, but overall as an out of stater and visitor to this area, I had an great experience! My wife had the ribs and said they had great flavor - French fries were delicious she said! Definitely recommend this place for a visitor finding a place to get good eats on vacation!

Our family visits the Outer Banks several times a year and we will no longer be eating at Pigman's Bar-B-Que. Fortunately, there is no shortage of good BBQ to be found on the Outer Banks. If you're looking for authentic eastern Carolina BBQ, then make sure to stop by Sooey's BBQ in Nags Head/Duck/Corolla or High Cotton Barbecue in Kitty Hawk - our favorite BBQ places in the area!

My wife and I are avid foodies and when we visit a restaurant that provides great food and great service, and on rare occasions bad food or a really bad experience, we make it a point to share our experience to encourage others to try particular restaurants or, in this case, to share our bad experience with them.

Our family will not eat at Pigman's Bar-B-Que again nor will we use their catering service, and we encourage our friends and guests visiting the area to do the same. I hired Pigman's Bar-B-Que to cater my wedding in October 2016. Unfortunately, Hurricane Matthew hit the Outer Banks on the day I was supposed to have my wedding in Corolla. Understandably, because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew, neither Pigman's Bar-B-Que nor the other vendors could provide their services on the original wedding date. That day we began making new arrangements with the officiant, the caterer, the photographer, hair and makeup personnel, and the DJ. Later in the week, and thanks to the resourcefulness of our family, friends, and the other vendors we hired (all but Pigman's Bar-B-Que upheld their end of the deal), we were able to have the ceremony and reception.

They have these adorable large pig bushes in front of their building! Unfortunately it was dark I couldn't get a good picture. We got our food to go, and it was a short wait. They have some cool souvenir shirts, we got the turkey-que boat and the pulled pork boat. Both were delicious and the fries that came with were amazing. The bbq was vinegar based and very flavorful.

The ribs were delicious. We tasted the pulled pork and pulled beef; it was good but to much vinegar taste for us. Hush-Puppies were sweet and delicious.

Looks so disgusting and small on the outside but the inside looks very nice and clean. The food is a little pricey but its still good. The hush puppies were shaped like fries. Were kinda good but didn't look like normal hush puppies. Staff was nice too. Food was so fresh.
