I can say that the front desk manager was very nice and professional.
HORRIBLE!!!! We made arrangements with Quality Inn for guest coming into my daughters wedding, so there were quite a few guest arriving between Quality Inn and one other hotel. When we arrived and checked into our room the floors had not been swept and there was sand all over the floor and food left in the refrigerator and in the drawers. There was broken crab shells all over the balcony. At 11:30pm one of the guest who had just arrived came to hang out in our room while they waited on house keeping, the sheets on the bed were dirty, there were no towels or toilet paper. I heard numerous complaints from guest at the wedding. Some even left the hotel and went and stayed with friends/family at other locations. For three nights the cost was over $600.00. I knew the hotel was old and needed updated and had no problems with that but to pay over $600.00 for horrible dirty conditions is not acceptable. I am very disappointed in Choice Hotel. BTW, I have been on hold for over thirty minutes trying to make a complaint with Choice - Customer Relations.
The motel wasn't all that bad. Our room did have sand all across it and you feel the grittiness under your feet. There was a large black cockroach near our door but thankfully it was dead. The morning front desk clerk was an absolute horror and the housekeeping staff was below par. The housekeepers came to our door as we were getting ready to walk outside and I told them to just wait a minute that we were leaving. We walked out of our room to head to the elevator, the housekeeper stood by our door for a moment, and then proceeded to the next room. Our room was never cleaned. The complimentary breakfast was decent and there was one lady working there that was very friendly. She took the time to talk with us while she was handling other duties such as wiping off tables. We will not be returning there.
Rooms are pretty standard of a quality inn as far as decor but this one needs a deep clean. The a.c. filters in our room were covered in mold spots and there was hair on counter and in bathroom. We were so tired from a long day out we didn't even call down to change rooms. Breakfast is good and the staff we encountered were nice. If this place had a deep clean it would be at least 4 stars but last visit we had sand under the top sheet of one of the beds so cleanliness standards need a little help. On the plus side there seemed to be a lot of painting going on so maybe a light remodel with some deep cleaning is in the works.
Booking was lost. Room was not even dune view and was told dune view. We stayed 1 night then went inland as Hurricane Maria hit. Maybe the mix up was a blessing.
I am not so sure why there are negative reviews for this hotel, but let me share you my experience of stay here. We were so scared about how the room would be from previous reviews, but to our surprise the room was neat and clean. All the bed sheets were new/ washed and arranged properly. Room flooring and bathroom were neat without any sea sand. We did not get sea view room(there are few rooms with view), but the hotel location is pretty close to the nags head beach, just few steps away. Its comfortable to play at the beach and walk back to hotel to change. We enjoyed perfect sunrise next day morning. Hotel staff allowed us to do early check-in 4hrs earlier, even during a busy weekend. Room has all the amenities like microwave oven, fridge and other basic stuff you find in all hotels. Breakfast was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this place and highly recommend this place as its neat, near to sea and surely saves some bucks.
