What terrible food and customer service!

To which I say, "Not even close"

I pretty much took 1 bite from this bagel that was toasted with a little butter, bacon and cheese, and threw it out my car window right in front of the store in hopes that I could save some unsuspecting customer from wasting their money on a "New York Bagel"

We were in at the end of August. There must have been a power outage as the lights were half on and you could tell the people working we're stressed. However, this by no means excuses the behaviors that were exhibited. But first, the food. Coming from New York I understand the bagels would not be entirely the same however, you are better off going to Dunkin' Donuts or a supermarket for a bagel than this place. The bagels that were there as half were not available due to the outage were terrible. Tasted like a bland white bread with absolutely no flavor. My husband ordered a pork roll egg and cheese. We almost walked out when we saw them pull the egg (if it was egg) and pork roll out and put it into the microwave. We should have walked out at that point.

If I could give this place a zero I would.

The trick is to get there early. Been there on and off season. Huge difference in OBX crowds. Summer is super busy but he bakes more. Fresh daily means fresh daily! My favorite is cheese everything with jalapeno cream cheese.

The customer almost in tears responded I only asked for a lid. The employee continued to blow up at the customer telling her that she is miserable and she shouldn't be that there were worse things going on and she has nothing to complain about. She continued that the young woman should take some Zanex or some drugs to relax.

If this place wants to make money hand over fist, all they would have to do is invest a little more into making authentic New York Style Bagels.

Love the egg everything bagels...its a constant bake because you never know how many bagels the customer in front will order so their always baking..best to call ahead for big orders their baked to order. Jalapeno cream cheese with tomatoes is my favorite

We sat to eat at his terrible food only to witness the worst customer service I have ever seen. Another customer had ordered some bagels and two coffees. When going to get the coffee the coffee was out in which she asked for more coffee. The woman behind the counter grunted as she was microwaving some food for another customer. She than instructed the young male employee to fill the coffee. Once the customer finished fixing her coffee there were no lids available. The customer asked politely for some lids. She clearly was taking the coffee to go and needed lids. The woman behind the counter flipped out on the young woman. The employee beraded her in front of all of the customers telling her that she needed to fix her attitude and realize that they were working in difficult conditions due to the power outage etc... She also continued that the vacationers and non locals don't understand how hard they work and are ungrateful. (I am pretty sure the reason for their business in this area is to accommodate locals and vacationers)

So I'm sorry for the rotten tomatoes review but I call it as I see it.

Wether that would be getting the correct equipment and not cut any corners in the process of making bagels, maybe hiring more help, or cooking your own bacon ?

I wouldn't eat their bagels on a bet!

I love John and his freshly baked bagels every morning! My favorite is the bacon maple glazed bagel with walnut cream cheese! I also love the peach danish! It’s all sooooo good!

I will say that the gentleman working there couldn't have been a nicer guy. And the service was extremely pleasant.

And what they call bacon, certainly does not come close to resembling bacon that has been cooked on sight.

Sold Authentic New York style bagels,

They Would have lines out the door on a daily basis. Which translates into a steady flow of money coming in! And more importantly very happy customers leaving rave reviews about the establishment! Ensuring word of mouth and return customers for years to come.

By far I am no expert in the art of making bagels . But I can say without a shadow of a doubt that if any establishment in the great state of North Carolina and specifically the Outer Banks, which needless to say is the most popular area for vacationers,

Not all is lost though...

If the bagels were sold at a supermarket bakery, then I would say they were your average supermarket bakery bagel. But the name of their store is "New York Bagels "
